26/05/2016 – In the first set Timi came back from 0:3 to a break advantage, but after that Mladenovic played better. The second act was decided by a single break.

The match lasted 1 hour 19 minutes.

 

“I’m terribly disappointed. I did not play with proper tactics. I did not served well, but I had opportunities. But I did not live with My chances. I’m sorry, really … “– said Timi.

 

Mladenovic started better, a lot better in front of the home crowd in the 44-minute first set. The Frenchwoman won the opening service game to 40, then broke her opponent to 15. Soon, she led 3:0, but then came the first great turn-around.

 

Timi won the fifth and seventh game as a receiver. So she led 4:3, but she didn’t hold that lead. Mladenovic equalized immediately, then at 5:4, she broke Timi after 30-0…

 

The second set also brought a close battle, but unfortunately without a new turn. Mladenovic played a little more precisely, and broke her opponent at 2:1, to 15…And this game essentially decided the fate of the match.

 

Timi fought honorably, but she could not come back. In the seventh game she led 30, then in the ninth game to 30-15 as a receiver. But she had no break point.

 

According to official statistics of the Roland Garros Mladenovic had 22 winners and 18 unforced errors. meanwhile Timi’s stats were 13/22.

 

On Friday, the Hungarian player will continue the French Open, with doubles as a partner of Yaroslava Shvedova. Timi and Kazakh partner will meet Dominika Cibulkova and Kirsten Flipkens in the second set.

 

Cibulkova ranked 148th in doubles, her career best position was 59 (13 August 2012). Seven years ago there she was a quarter-finalist at the US Open, this is the best doubles result ever at a Grand Slam tournament.

Flipkens ranked 143rd in doubles, her career best position was 117 (6 January 2014). So far she has won one ITF tournament.
