28/05/2012 – Unfortunately it was a poor performance from the 65th ranked Tímea Babos in singles first round.
|ROLAND GARROS (PARIS, GRAND SLAM EVENT, CLAY), WOMEN’S SINGLES, 1ST ROUND|
|Sesil Karatantcheva (Kazakh)-Timea Babos (Hungarian) 6:1, 6:0|
Originally it was Vera Zvonareva the first opponent, but the twice Grand Slam-finalist withdrew due to injury in the last minute. Thus came the former Bulgarian, who represents Kazakh colors since 2009 and lost in the final qualifying round.
The 125th ranked Karatantcheva used very well the unexpected opportunity, immeditely broke Timi, who won the next game. Then the young Hungarian made lot of mistakes, eased the rival’s task.
Karatantcheva played stable tennis, steadily increased her lead, it seemed clearly, that she is much more experienced in the senior Grand Slams. Already in 2005, she was in the quarter final on clay in Paris, she shown all routine again.
Timea Babos occasionally threw some nice solutions, but she could not play well for a longer time. She did not improve in the second set, hardly won a point…It is a really, painful defeat.
