Rogers Cup: defeat in doubles

07/08/2017 – The Hungarian-Czech pair lost in three sets against Atawo and Gavrilova.

The match lasted 1 hour 15 minutes in Toronto.

 

The Hungarian-Czech double started well in the first 30-minute opening set, they were a break ahead at 2:1. But Atawo and Gavrilova came back immediately, and broke their opponent again after 4:3. They won the last game of the set to 0…

 

At the start of the 33-minute second set, the US-Australian pair won the 5th seeds service game again, but then came the turn-around. Timi and her partner improved, they won four games in a row, broke the rival twice. In the eight game the 5th seeds had two set point as a receivers, but without success. They finished the set in the next game, losing only a single rally.

 

Unfortunately in the decisive tie-break, Atawo and Gavrilova played much better. The American-Australian pair lost the opening point behind the serve, but then they broke the opponent 4 times, they led 6-1. From that, there was no turning point. Timi and Hlaváčková came back to 7-4, but had no chance in the final part of the match.
