Rio 2016: Kvitova’s confident victory

07/08/2016 – The double Wimbledon Champion served and received very well, didn’t give a chance for her opponent.

Petra Kvitova (Czech, 11)-Tímea Babos (Hungarian) 6:1, 6:2

 

“Petra played very well! I tried everything, I played much more aggressively, but it didn’t worked. It was difficult against a star, who played such a good tennis” – said Timi.

 

The match lasted 64 minutes.

 

In the first 30-minute set Kvitova has pulled out of a 5:0, she twice won Timi’s serve. The Czech star firstly broke to 30, in the second game. Then, she didn’t stop, she hit excellent attacking shots and had also some luck. After 3:0, the Hungarian youngster led 40-30, behind the serves, but Kvitova celebrated at the end…

 

Finally, Timi won the sixth game to 15, but had no chance for more in the opening act. Kvitova hold her serve to 15.

 

The second set developed a bit more closely. Kvitova broke her opponent immediately, but Timi did not give up. She tried everything, she fought bravely, but the double Wimbledon Champ played as a double Wimbledon Champ. The Hungarian player came back to 3:2, but she had no chance for a turn-around.

 

Kvitova played aggressively, she won her opponent’s serve after 4:2. In the last game, Timi saved two match points with winners, but after that, the Czech star had another two great winners.

 

So Timi finished her singles appearance at the Rio Olympics.
