04/08/2016 – In doubles, Timi and Réka Jani will start against a Romanian pair.
On Thursday, the singles and doubles draw was made for the Rio Olympics: Timi’s opponent in singles will be the 2011 and 2014 Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova. In doubles, Timi and Réka Jani will meet Andreea Mitu and Raluca Olaru in the opening round.
Petra Kvitova (Born: 8 March, 1990) is ranked 14th, her career best position was 2 (31 October 2011). Throughout her career, she has won 17 WTA and 7 ITF competition. She remained unbeaten at Wimbledon in 2011 and 2014. At the end of the 2011 season the Czech star triumphed at the WTA Championships, and she was a finalist last season, too.
The Czech player celebrated the year’s best result in Stuttgart, reached the semifinal on clay. In mid-June, at the WTA event in Eastbourne she won 6:4, 7:6 against Timi.
Four years ago, at the London Olympics, Kvitova was a quarter-finalist. The Hungarian player reached the second round in 2012.
In 2012, Timi and Ágnes Szavay lost in opening round against the fresh Wimbledon finalist pair of Andrea Hlavackova and Lucie Hradecka.
This year, Timi’s partner will be Réka Jani. They meet a Romanian duo of Andreea Mitu and Raluca Olaru in the first round in Rio.
Mitu (Born: 22 September 1991) is ranked 76th, her career best position was 73 (25 July 2016). So far, she has won 2 WTA- and has won 13 ITF tournament in this genre. This year she remained unbeaten at Istanbul (Turkey, 250 000 USD, hard court, Co: Ipek Soylu), in Cagnes-sur-Mer (France, 100 000 USD, clay, Co: Demi Schuurs) and Bastad (Sweden, 250 000 USD, clay, Co: Alicja Rosolska).
Olaru (Born: 3 March 1989) is ranked 61st, her career best position was 44 (28 September 2015). So far, she has won 4 WTA and 15 ITF tournaments in doubles. This year she was a finalist in Rabat (Morocco, 250 000 USD, clay, Co: Tatjana Maria) and in Bol (Croatia, 125 000 USD, clay, Co: Ipek Soylu).
