RAIFFEISEN ITF DAMEN 2021 VAL GARDENA – SUDTIROL (25 000 USD, INDOOR CARPET), SINGLES, ROUND 1
Tímea Babos (Hungarian, 3)-Justina Mikulskytė (Lithuanian) 5:7, 6:4, 6:2

The match lasted 2 hour and 29 minutes.

The Hungarian player got off to a great start in the 49-minute first set: she broke twice to 30 and then led 5:1. After that, came a bad period. Mikulskytė barely lost a rally, winning her opponent’s serve to 15, to 0 and then to 30 at 6:5. Thus, the Lithuanian player won the opening act from 1:5.

Mikulskytė was also better in the first stage of the 49-minute second set. She pulled to 4:1, broke twice, to 40, then to 30. Meanwhile, the Hungarian player won her opponent’s serve to 15 after 0:2.

After 1:4, however, Timi took control! In the seventh game, she lost only two balls and then became 4:4, saving 3 break points. In the next two games, Timi only “allowed” 1-1 rally to her opponent, so the final act could come.

In the third game, neither player brought her serve until 2:2. After that, Timi took the serving of the Lithuanian opponent for 30 and then brought her own from 3 breakballs again. After that, she won the next 2 games for 30.

Timi’s next opponent will be Diāna Marcinkēviča. The Latvian player (born: 3 August, 1992) is 353rd at the World Ranking, with a career best position of 196th (28 April, 2014). So far, she has won 7 ITFs in Singles.
