09/01/2015 – Timi won in three sets against the world ranking 74 Yanina Wickmayer the first round of the qualies at the 731,000 USD Sydney WTA tournament.
The match lasted 1 hour 44 minutes.

“I think this a nice win! I work a lot with my Team and the things starting to come together, what we practice. In the first set I had mistakes, but then I played better and better. It was terribly hot today, ahead of the final set we had a 10-minute break. I continue tomorrow 🙂 “– Timi said.
Wickmayer started much better in the 38-minute first set: after 1:0 she broke her opponent, then moved to a 3:0 lead. Then Timi won her first game, and came back to the match.
In the ninth game the 21-year old Hungarian player had a total of 4 break point after 40-0, but at the end the Belgian star won the opening set…
The second set brought a total dominance of Timi! She broke her rival three times, and easily equalized. Although at 2:0 the Hungarian youngster lost her service game.
In the final set Timi began with another break, then she saved two break point. Wickmayer fought hardly, but had no chance. At 4:2 Timi again won her opponent’s service game, then closed the match to 15 at 5:2.
The 21-year-old Hungarian player will meet the World No 76 Marina Erakovic in the next round. The 26-year-old New Zealand player’s career best position was 39 (7 May 2012). Throughout her career she has won one WTA- (2013: Memphis) and 12 ITF tournament. Last year at Eastbourne Timi won 6:3, 6:4 against Erakovic in the first round.
