New Haven: Polish-Danish opponents in doubles

21/08/2016 – Timi and Yaroslava Shvedova will be the 1st seeds in the Connecticut Open.

 

The Doubles draw was made for the 761 000 USD Connecticut Open in New Haven: Timi and Yaroslava Shvedova is seeded 1st. The Hungarian-Kazakh duo’s first opponent will  be Klaudia Jans-Ignacik and Caroline Wozniacki.

 

The 31-year-old Jans Ignacik is ranked 84th, she only starts in doubles at the WTA Tour and Grand Slam events. Her career best position was 28 (September 10, 2012). So far, she has won 3 WTA 11 ITF tournament in this genre. Last year she was a quarter-finalist at the Australian Open, and in 2012 played the final at the Roland Garros in Mixed Doubles.

 

This year the Polish player was a finalist in March in San Antonio (United States, 125 000 USD, hard court, Co: Anastasia Rodionova).

The Danish-star with Polish-origin, Wozniacki has no ranking points in doubles. Her career best position was 52 (14 September 2009). The former World No1 in singles has won 2 WTA events in this genre. According the WTA statistics, her last doubles event was in April 2012 in Copenhagen.
