Timi’s singles match lasted 1 hour 36 minutes.
“I’m sorry for this match! I think that the first set was so smooth…I didn’t faced such a big hitter opponent til Wimbledon, when I met Serena Williams. It’s amazing how Muguruza played, and at what speed! I do not really feel the speed of the game. Especially, in the last four matches (Errani, Brengle, Niculescu, Vinci) I met with opponents, whose style was to play technical tennis. Now Muguruza hit every ball with enormous power. So, My first task was to play with more aggressive style. I the second set I done this and it worked better. That is why it was such a positive match for Me. I played well at break points, but at 3:2 she hit a miracle shot after my wonderful rally. I think that was a pretty good standard in the second set. I’m sorry I lost, but I’m trying to stay positive. After all, it was a good week in singles and the doubles is still there”– rated Timi.
The fourth seed Muguruza began the 26-minute first set with an impressive break, then she hold that lead with a good service game. Timi fought honorably, but her opponent played very reliable.
After 3:2, the young Spanish star switched the tempo of the game, gave her opponent no chance. Last year Wimbledon finalist had incredibly strong basic punches and dictated the rhythm behind the serves and as a receiver. In the seventh game she broke Timi to 0, then lost no rally in the final game of the opening act.
The second set was much closer and more exciting. The Hungarian player did everything well and gotten bigger chance to score points. Timi took care of her service games, she also began to play more aggressively.
Muguruza played well, but she was not as confident as in the first set. But, in the sixth game, she saved break points. She hold her service game with a wonderful solution, after Timi hit a fantastic dropshot.
At 5:5, at the best moment Muguruza broke her opponent to 15. But after that, Timi had a total of three break points. But without success. The Spanish star saved them, and finally she finished the match with a nice shot.
On Thursday, Timi will play in the quarter-final of the doubles with Julia Goerges. In the second round they “won” the second round match, after Petra Kvitova and Barbora Strycova retired.
