Vania King (USA)-Tímea Babos (Hungarian) 6:4, 3:6, 7:6 (7-5)

“It did not play well, but I fought as I could. I did everything. Especially physically I feel it was quite a long match. I got tired. Already in the past few days in training I also felt, that the circumstances are not favorable for my game. There is an awful lot of wind, the court is very fast and the balls are bouncing high. I did not feel well in the game, My opponent played in a style that I do not like”– said Timi.

The match lasted 2 hours 37 minutes.

The serve not gave a lot of advantages to Timi, although this is her big ‘weapon”. She had big chance for the success, but she didn’t broke Vania King in the most important moments.

In the 48-minute first set, the Hungarian player twice led with a break, but her opponent came back both times. At 3:3 King won her opponent’s serve again, and after 4:4, she played better. In the tenth game she lost no rally behind the serves.

The US-player began the 36-minute second set with a break, but Timi came back. And at 4:3, she won her sixth break point and then saved her serve from 0-40.

Unfortunately, the third set did not develop the way Timi wanted. In the fourt game she lost her serve, but after that she came back with three games in a row. She broke King twice, but she couldn’t hold the break advantage. King came back to 4:4.

Few minutes later, came the tie-break. King led with a break, but lost that immediately. But after 5:5 she won a receiver’s point, then she finished the match.

Next week Timi will play in Florianopolis at the Brasil Tennis Cup.
