|Tímea Babos (Hungarian, 4)-Marie Bouzková (Czech) 6:3, 6:4|
The match lasted 1 hour 36 minutes in Monterrey.
“It was not an easy match: the late start and the rain made it difficult. And the opponent was unknown to Me. But I did not need to play My best tennis in the opening round. Here’s the most important is to advance and victory in two sets. There are also positive aspects of My game and of course parts of it that I can change and improve. But this is good in tennis that I have a chance to be improved. There is the next round in which I can improve. Otherwise, I enjoyed the game and the atmosphere created by the audience! There were a lot of people out there, they were very fond of Me here in Monterrey. It’s a pleasure, I like playing here! It was good to be back on the center court” – said Timi.
Timi’s first match in Mexico was longer than expected, but this was “thanks” to the weather.
In the first 48 minutes of the first game, there was a rainfall after 3:2. Until then, there was no extraordinary event, but the sequel was different.
In the sixth game, Bouzková rescued her serve from 15-40, but she could not hold her own game in the next occasion. After 4:3, Timi led 40-0 as a receiver and later, she used the fourth chance to break. In the last game of the opening act, the Hungarian player hold her serve to 15.
At the beginning of the second set, Bouzková saved two, then Timi saved one break points. Then the two player went along till 3:3, then came three good games, when the receiver was the better player on the court.
Timi broke to 15, then lost her serve to 40. After 4:4, she lost only two rallies at Bouzková’s game, and then she won her serve to 15, using the second match point.
