01/04/2017-03/04/2017 – The pre-tournament started on Saturday at the Mexican WTA tournament.
On Saturday, the main draw was made for singles at the 250 000 USD WTA event in Mexico. On Monday, it revealed, that the World No30 Hungarian player’s opponent will be the qualifier Lesley Kerkhove.
The Dutch player (born: 4 November 1991) is ranked 175th at the latest WTA Rankings. Her career best position was 163 (06 March 2017). So far, Kerkhove has won three ITF singles competition.
The 25-year-old Dutch player started the 2017 season with four defeat, then then came the good performance in Malaysia. She won three matches in the qualies, then she reached the quarter-final at the 250 000 USD tournament in Kuala Lumpur. After that, she played two ITF event in China, without major success, in Zhuhai and Shenzhen.
In the Monterrey qualies, Kerkhove defeated Deniz Khazaniuk (WTA-248, 4:6, 6:4, 7:5), Michelle Larcher de Brito (WTA-233, 6:2, 7:5) and Victoria Rodriguez (WTA-302, 6: , 6:3).
Timi has never played against Kerkhove.
