Miami Open: succesful start in Doubles

27/03/2021 – Timi and Kudermetova came back from a set down.

Tímea Babos, Veronika Kudermetova (Hungarian, Russian, 4)-Ellen Perez, Saisai Zheng (Australian, Chinese) 3:6, 6:4, 10-7

 

The match lasted 1 hour and 20 minutes.

 

In the fourth game of the 34-minute first set Perez and Zheng saved their serve from 30-40 and it proved decisive. After that, they broke the opponent three times, at 5:3 to 40, so they closed the opening act.

 

The 36-minute second set brought a big turn. Timi and Kudermetova served much better, they broke the opponent to 40 at 1:1. They could not hold that lead, but after 3:3 they won the opponent’s serve to 40. And it was enough, they finished the set at 5:4 from 30-40.

 

In the match tie-break the Hungarian-Russian pair broke the opponent five times, so it caused no trouble, that they lost the serve three times.

 

In Round 2 Timi and Veronika Kudermetova will meet Caroline Garcia and Nadia Podoroska.
