The former junior World No1, 2019 Australian Open Champion Danish player smoothly defeated the 1st seeded Yekaterina Alexandrova in Round 1. It was the teen’s second victory against a Top50 opponent. At the 2020 Roland Garros, Tauson triumphed over Jennifer Brady, who was a recent finalist at the Australian Open.
In Lyon, Timi started both sets better, but after that her opponent was more accurate.
In the opening game of the 34-minute first set, the Hungarian player took the fourth chance after 15-40, winning her opponent’s serve. After that, Timi brought her own game from a break ball, but then Tauson made great use of her chances. The Danish teen took her opponent’s serve three times, bringing her own games with confidence.
In the second act, Timi broke after 1:1, but could not win the next game. There was no further turn until 3:3, but then Tauson was better again. After 4:3, the Danish player broke to 15, then won the last game to 0.
