15/10/2016 – This year Timi and Irina-Camelia Begu played the final at Florianopolis.
On Saturday the main draw was made for the 823 888 USD WTA tournament at the Russian Capital: Timi’s opponent in the first round of the Kremlin Cup would have been Yulia Putintseva. On Sunday the draw was changed, and the Hungarian player will meet Irina-Camelia Begu.
The Romanian player (born: 26 August 1990) is ranked 28th, her career best position was 22 (22 August 2016). So far, she has won 3 WTA and 11 ITF event in singles. This year she reached the fourt round at the Roland Garros. She played in the semifinal in Rome (Italy, 2,707,664 USD, clay), reached the quarter-final in Madrid (Spain, 4 942 700 USD, clay) and Charleston (United States, 753 000 USD, clay).
Before the Rio Olympics Begu won against Timi 2:6, 6:4, 6:3 in the final of the Florianopolis WTA tournament. Since then, the Romanian player won 2 matches in 7 events in singles.
