04/03/2014 – Timea Babos (World No 105) lost in three sets against Alla Kudryavtseva (119) in the first round of the quali in the 5 427 105 USD BNP Paribas Open, at Indian Wells.
The match lasted two hours and 28 minutes.

The 20-year old Hungarian player began very well the 50-minute first set, her serves were excellent, she was perfect with the serves in the first and second service game. In the fourth game she had three break point, but she couldn’t lived with them. After that her opponent played better, and at 3:3 Kudryavtseva broke with the third chance…
Timi broke back at 5:4 to 30, and at 5:5 she led 30-0. But the Russian player again won her opponent’s service game, and at 6:5 she won the service game to 0…
At the beginning of the 38-minute second set Timi led 3:2, she won all her service games to 30. By then the 25 -year-old, much more experienced Russian easily won her service games, she equalized to 1:1 and to 2:2 without losing a point. But in the sixth game Kudryavtseva lost her service game from 30-0, and 40-30!
Unfortunately the break advantega didn’t lasted long, at 4:2 Timi won only one point…But in the next game the Hungarian youngster lived with the thirs chance and jumped to a 5:3 lead! The 20-year-old Hungarian player then smoothly won the next service game to 15, came the third and final set!
In the first game of the third set Kudryavtseva saved five break point, but at the end she lost her service game! But Timi couldn’t hold the lead, she lost her service game to 40 after a great battle.
At 2:1 the young Hungarian saved four break point, and at 3:3 she won her opponent’s service game. But in the last three games the Russian player was the better on the court and reached the second round of the quali.
