|Veronika Kudermetova (Russian)-Tímea Babos (Hungarian) 6:0, 7:6 (7-4)|
The match lasted 1 hour and 35 minutes.
Unfortunately, the 22-minute first set was one-sided: Kudermetova didn’t give a chance to her opponent. The Russian player broke to 40, 30 and then to 0. In the last game she did not lose a rally, behind her serve.
The Russian player did not slow down at the beginning of the second set, pulled to a 3:0, twice won Timi’s serve. But then a completely different “match” started!
Timi was trying to get back from a deep, almost hopeless situation. She won twice her opponent’s serve, unfortunately she could not bring her own. After 2:5, she broke the Russian to 40, saving a match ball.
Then, after 4:5, Kudermetova once again served for the match. The Russian player led to 40-15, and after a break point, she had another chance of closing the match. But Timi equalized, then won her opponent’s serve! The Hungarian player then hold her own game, just like her opponent, so came the tie-break.
Unfortunately, Kudermetova jumped to 4-0, and after 4-3 she won two more receiving points. Timi still saved the next match point, but finally her opponent was happy to take advantage of the sixth chance to win the match.
