The match lasted 1 hour and 38 minutes.
In the 49-minute first set, the Hungarian-French pair started with 0:2 and then with a 16-1 “counterattack” led to 4:2. Unfortunately, then Timi and Kristina Mladenovic lost the own game twice, so with one break, the score was 5:5.
A few minutes later the tie-break came, which didn’t work well. Mitu and Panova pulled to a 5:2 lead with two breaks, then soon it became 5-4. Then, after 5-5, another two breaks came, and at 7-6, the Romanian-Russian double ended the opening act with a receiver’s point.
The 34-minute second set was much quieter. Timi and Kiki Mladenovic rescued the own game from 15-40 in the opening game and won the opponent’s serve to 30. After that, none of the doubles reached at least three winning points. In the end, the ninth game was brought to 15 by the 1st seeds.
Timi and her companion led the way through the match tie-break, although they lost their serve four times. Fortunately, the Hungarian-French double won the opponent’s serve six times, gradually increasing the advantage after 4-3. At the very end, after 9-6, Timi and Kristina Mladenovic closed the quarter-final with a break.
The next opponent is Cornelia Lister of Sweden (WTA-doubles: 91) and Renata Voráčová (Czech, WTA-doubles: 77).
