The match lasted two hours and 17 minutes.
“I’m sorry, that I could not won today’s match. I struggled as I could. But near the end of the final set I did not play well. I came back after the opening set, I think, I played well in the second act. Then, I had some chances in the final set, but unfortunately, the match has gone finally. I know, the circumstances at Indian Wells are not favour Me. I has not won a match in the main draw, untill 2017. But I’m learning from today’s match and I go further forward”– said Timi.
In the first 48-minute set the Hungarian player had the first break point, but she could not make use of the chance. Then Vesnina broke her opponent to 15, and saved another break point in the next game. Timi fought hardly and bravely, but in the deciding part of the set, she had no chance as a receiver.
The Hungarian player saved a set point at 5:3, then saved another in the next game. But Vesnina finally closed the opening act.
The 33-minute second set brought a big turn. Timi played more accurate, and this brought a good result. In the opening game the Hungarian player saved a break point, then won the opponent’s serve to 30. Timi won the next game in a great battle, then after 4:1 broke Vesnina again.
In the last game of the set, Timi was dominant again. Then came a long pause. The Hungarian player consulted with coach Thomas Drouet, while Vesnina took a medical time-out.
After the break Timi led 2:1, and then 3:2 with a break. But her opponent both times came back immediately. The heat was a large impact on both players, but both fought with tremendous determination.
Unfortunately, in the end Vesznyina was the more accurate. After 5:4, Timi saved three match points, but it was not enough. The Russian player lived with the fourth chance and finished the match.
