The match lasted 1 hour and 24 minutes in Indian Wells.

 

In the first part of the 30-minute first set, the World No47 Kazakh player jumped to a 4:0 lead, twice winning her own game to 40 and twice broke the opponent to 30. After 0:5 Timi hold her serve from 0-40.

 

In the seventh game, Putintseva lost a single rally.

 

In the first part of the second act, Timi finally found herself as a receiver, twice broke to 40. Unfortunately, after 2:0 she lost her serve after 40-15, then after 3:1 she didn’t win a game …

 

Putintseva won her opponent’s serve to 15 and then to 30, hold her own game from 0-30. After 3:5 Timi saved two match point and had a chance for 4:5. Unfortunately the Kazakh player turned and easily advanced to the second round.
