Indian Wells: defeat in doubles

The match took 1 hour 33 minutes in Indian Wells.

 

In the first 25-minute set, Mertens and Sabalenka didn’t give their opponents a chance, they broke twice. And the Belgian-Belarusian pair won Timi’s serve for the third time at the beginning of the second set.

 

Then the second seeded Hungarian-French team picked theirselves up at 1:6, 0:2. They were able to settle quickly the 53-minute second act. Timi and Mladenovic brought their serves easily till the tie-break. In the „mini set” they led almost all time, and after 5-4, they closed the set with two breaks.

 

Timi and Kristina Mladenovic were better at the match tie-break for a long time. The Hungarian-French double led 8-5 after 5-5, and then served twice. Unfortunately, Mertens and Sabalenka were almost swept at that time, winning five rallies in a row and advanced to the second round.
