The match lasted 1 hour and 17 minutes.

 

Timi started the semifinal with a great 9-0 run, but after that the match became much tighter. The Hungarian player lost her break advantage 2:0 and after 3:1 against the opponent, who triumphed int he QF over World No92 Anna Blinkova.

 

 

Schoofs took the step up to 5:5, when the decisive part came. Timi hold her serve to 15, then broke to 30.

 

In the first game of the second set, Schoofs surprised her opponent, breaking to 30. Fortunately, Timi immediately replied, broke to 30. The Hungarian player also won the third and fifth game from break points, and then led 4:3.

 

Timi broke to 30 in the eighth game, then finished the semifinal smoothly to 15.

 

 

The Hungarian player’s opponent will be Monica Niculescu in the final.

 

The Romanian player (born: 25 September, 1987) is 142nd in the World Rankings, has a career best position of 28th (27 February 2012). So far, she has won 3 WTA Tour, 1 WTA125s and 18 ITF tournaments in singles.

 

Niculescu previously won three times – most recently in Eastbourne in 2015 at 7:5, 7:5 – against the Hungarian player. In 2016, Timi won 6:1, 6:4 in Shenzhen/China, and triumphed 4:6, 6:1, 6:3 shortly afterwards in St. Petersburg/Russia.
