Hungary: Timi is the Female Player of the Year again

18/12/2019 – The 26-year old player has won won for the eighth time in a row.

At the request of the Hungarian National News Agency, since 1964, every year, Hungarian sports federations decide who is the best in their sport: Tímea Babos (MTK) and Márton Fucsovics (MTK) are again the players of the year in tennis.

 

Timi was a finalist at the Australian Open with Kristina Mladenovic in January, then defended their title at the WTA Tour event in Istanbul in the spring. The Hungarian-French pair triumphed at Roland Garros at the start of the summer and then won the WTA Finals in Shenzhen at the end of the season with five victories. Timi won the WTA Finals for the third time in a row (2017, partner: Andrea Hlaváčková, 2018, partner: Mladenovic, 2019, partner: Mladenovic).

 

The 26-year-old player was a finalist in the 100 000 USD ITF tournament in Ilkley, England, in the summer. Then she also played int he final at the 125 000 USD WTA125s event in Taiwan to close the season.

 

Timi is 89th in singles and 3rd in the latest World Rankings.
