Since 1964 the Hungarian News Agency’s Sports Department asks the domestic to name the best athletes of their sport. Timi won this award by the Hungarian Tennis Association for the sixth time, after 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016.
Timi remained unbeaten in singles in 2017 in Budapest, and also played in the final at Quebec City and Tashkent. In doubles she triumphed with Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova (Russia) in Sydney, and won with Andrea Hlaváčková (Czech Republic) in Rabat, Quebec City, Tashkent, Moscow and at the WTA Finals in Singapore. They were also finalists in Madrid and Beijing.
Timi, thanks to the last triumph, became the first female world champion of Hungarian tennis. After finishing the WTA Finals in Singapore, she was 7th in the world ranking, a new Career High and Hungarian Record.
