“It’s good that come a free day! I must speak and think about some things with the coaches. Mainly, why I lost the first set in 20 minutes to 6:1, then how could I fought back to the match. She led with a set and a break…I thought, I had no chance against Halep. I was glad that after a short break came the doubles match, because the good game stayed in my hands. Unfortunately, after the first set my energy went out rapidly, I tried in vain to make up … I told Réka, that I try to save some energy for the final set. But there was absolutely no chance. It was good to play again with Réka, I hope we will play again in the future” – Timi said after the doubles match.

In the first match of the day the World No 26 Sorana Cirstea gave no chance to Réka Jani, the Romanian ace won in 47 minutes.

In the second game the World No 10 Simona Halep played very well in the 20-minute first set, Timi hardly won a game at 5:0. It seemed, that the Romanians will celebrate in few minutes.

At the beginning of the second set Halep had a 2:0 lead, with a break and a mental advantage. But then came the turnaround! The domestic player have also found herself , finally served better and better, she played better from the baseline, she came more and more to the net, successfully.

But Halep kept the break advantage till 5:4 , then served for the win. Until then, Timo couldn’t reached a break ball, but fortunately she turned her fortune in the last possible moment. The young Hungariian broke the Romanian rival, then won her service game and again came the break. Timi equalized!

And she didn’t stopped! Timi broke Halep, then led 2:0. The World No 10 came back to 2:2, but then she lost three games in a row. Halep then won a game, but she couldn’t held Timi, who celebrated a huge victory.

The 20-year old Hungarian won her first singles match of the 2014 season, she first time won against a top10 player! And she deserved it, she fought hardly and bravely!

After some rest came the all-important doubles. Timi and Reka Jani won the dramatic first set in a tie-break, but after that the more routine Romanian pair turned around the game. The Hungarians played more and more tired, they had no chance in the second and third set.
