04/04/2017 – Timi broke the opponent twice in each set.

The match lasted 60 minutes in Monterrey.


“I served well, I am very happy with this! I tried to play the elements in the match, which We hardly practiced before the tournament. I am happy that the game went well” – said Timi.


The 2012 Champion of the Mexican WTA tournament played well in her 2017 debut. She won almost every important point, so she advanced to the 2nd round. Timi saved two break points, and hit a total of 13 aces.


In the 21-minute opening act, Kerkhove equalized after 1:0, but later she had no chance. Timi broke her opponent in the fourth game, to 40, lived with the third chance. Then, after 4:1, she won Kerkhove’s service game to 15, and hold her next serve to 30.


The second set was much more tightl. Timi did not use the first two break points, but after 1:1, she broke her opponent to 15. However, Kerkhove fought hardly, and with success. And she had two break points at 3:2. But Timi hold that game, then after 5:3, she broke the Dutch player again, to 30.


The Hungarian player’s next opponent will be Naomi Broady, who won 7:5, 6:4 against the World No54 Catherine Bellis.


The British player (born: 28 February 1990) is ranked 123rd, her career best position was 76 (7 March 2016). So far, she has won 9 ITF singles competition. This year’s best result was a final in Midland (United States, 100 000 USD, hard court).


Timi has encountered three times with Broady: she won 6:4, 6:7, 6:6 in 2009 in the final at Edinburgh (clay) and in 2011 in Bratislava, 5:7, 7:6, 7:6. Broady won 2:6, 7:6, 6:0 in 2014 at Wimbledon.
