“I’m happy to win today, especially that Giorgi always play well on grass! She is not an easy opponent, she is a great hitter, what is not a disadvantage on grass. It’s terribly windy at Eastbourne, so the service games are not simple. I’m really happy with that victory! Tomorrow is a hard match waiting for me, because the opponent is the double Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova. I look forward to meeting with her at the Center Court!”– Timi said.

 

The match lasted one hour and 45 minutes.

 

In the first 45-minute set Giorgi had the first break point, but Timi saved her service game after 1:0. Then the Hungarian player served well, she gave no chance for her opponent. And Timi received dangerously, she had a total of eight break points in the next part of the opening act.

 

And finally, after 4:4 the Hungarian youngster broke her opponent, then she hold her serve easily. So, she had a 1 set lead.

 

In the second set, the served brought no advantage…Timi led three times with a break, but immediately lost her advantage. And after 4:4, both player hold her service game. So came the tie-break.

 

Giorgi began with a break, but after that Timi played much better. She won four points after 1-2, then at 5-3 she broke her opponent again. And she finished the match with a service point.

 

Timi’s next opponent will be the 2011 and 2014 Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova. The Czech player is ranked 11th, her career best position was 2 (31 October 2011).

 

So far, she has won 17 WTA and 7 ITF tournament in singles. At the end of the 2011 season she triumphed at the WTA Finals, where she also played in the final last year.
