The match lasted 1 hour and 12 minutes in Shenzhen.


“I’m happy for today’s performance, because I played well in the first match of the year” – said the Hungarian player.


Timi, like in recent years, has started the new season in China. The draw seemed favorable, as in the opening round a 16-year-old local player was on the other side of the net.


The World No587 Wang did not mind at all on the Center Court: at the beginning of the 38-minute opening set, she kept the pace with her opponent. The Chinese teenager won the opening service game from 30-40hand, then reached 40-40 as a receiver. Timi finally won her serve, and then in the big battle decided the fate of the first act.


The 8th seeded Hungarian player broke her rival to 30 after 1:1, then hold her service game from a break point. In the fifth game, the Chinese teen saved three break points, but Timi lived with the fourth chance. After 4: 1, the Hungarian player brought her serve to 15, then broke Wang to 40. This also ended the opening act.


At the beginning of the second set, Timi won her serve from a break point, then the Chinese teen did it in the next game. After 1: 1, came in the “scenario” of the first set: the Hungarian player won five games in a row: broke Wang to 15 after 2:1, the won her opponent’s serve to 40, after 4:1. In the last game, Timi did not lose a rally.


The 8th seeds next opponent will be Magda Linette.


The Polish player, (born: 12 February 12, 1992), is 72nd in the world ranking, with a career best position of 64 (21 September, 2015). So far, she has won 1 WTA-125s and 11 ITF tournaments. In the first round of the Shenzhen Open she won 7:5, 2:6, 6:4 againts Slovakian Jana Čepelová.

Timi and Linette have not yet met in singles at the WTA Tour or an ITF event.
