19/10/2014 – On Sunday the main draw was made in singles at the 100 000 USD ITF tournament in Poitiers: the World No 107 Tímea Babos will meet the 6th seed Pauline Parmentier.
The 28-year old French player is ranked 78th.
Parmentier’s career best position was 40th (21 July 2008), respectively. So far, she has won two WTA and eight ITF singles titles. Seven years ago, the French player defeated the later world No 1 Victoria Azarenka (7:5, 6:2) in the Tashkent final, then in 2008 in Bad Gastein she won againt Lucie Hradecka (6:4, 6:4) in the last match.
The experienced French player this year celebrated her best Grand Slam result in singles, she reached the fourt round at the Roland Garros. She obtained Roberta Vinci (3:6, 6:3, 6:2), Yaroslava Shvedova (1:6, 6:3, 6:3) and Mona Barthel (1:6, 6:1, 7:5). She lost against Garbine Muguruza (6:4, 6:2).
At the first part of the 2014 season Parmentier celebrated her best results at the ITF Circuit. She 225th at the beginning of the year: she was semifinalist in Hong Kong (25 000 USD). Then she was a quarterfinalist in Andrezieux Boutheon (France, 25,000 USD, carpet), and then won in Grenoble (France, 25,000 USD, carpet). Later he played in the final in Nottingham (England, 25,000 USD, carpet), Edgbaston (England, 25,000 USD, carpet) and in Saint-Gaudens (France, 50,000 USD, clay).
After the Roland Garros Parmentier reached the quarterfinal in Baku (Azerbaijan, 250,000 USD, hard court). She have not achieved significant results in singles in the last few months.
