31/10/2014 – On Friday the main draw was made for the 125 000 USD WTA tournament in Limoges: Timi will meet the second seed Caroline Garcia in the opening round.
The Hungarian player is ranked 91st, while her opponent is 38th.
This year in Cincinnati Timi won 6:4, 6:3 against Garcia in the first round of the qualies.
The 20-year-old Garcia’s career best position is 34th (10.06.2014). Throughout her career, she has won one WTA and one ITF singles tournament.
The French player lost her first four matches this season, then got into the last four in Acapulco (250 000 USD, hard court). In the quarterfinal she won against Eugenie Bouchard (World No 19, 3:6, 6:4, 6:1). Garcia reached the third round in Miami (5 427 105 USD, hard court), in the second round she defated Klara Koukalova (World No 28, 7:6, 7:6).
In early April, came the first WTA title in Bogota (250 000 USD, clay). She won the final 6:3, 6:4 against the former World No 1 Jelena Jankovic (now World No 9). In May, in Madrid (4 236 425 USD, clay) the French player reached the semifinal from the qualies. In the quarterfinal she beat Sara Errani (World No 11, 6:2, 4:6, 6:3), then lost against Agnieszka Radwanska (then World No 3, 6:4, 4:6, 6:4).
Garcia reached the quarterfinal at Nuremberg (250 000 USD, clay) and the third round at Wimbledon. In September she was a quarterfinalist in Wuhan (China, 2 440 070 USD, hard court), she won against Venus Williams (6:4, 4:6, 7:6), Agnieszka Radwanska (3:6, 7:6, 7:6) and CoCo Vandeweghe (6:3, 6:2). She lost against Petra Kvitova (6:3, 6:4).
