15/12/2015 – The Hungarian News Agency’s Sports Editorial Office requested the national associations every year since 1964 to name their best athlete in the current year.
And now it’s official: Timi is the Best Female Tennis Player in Hungary for the fourth time, after 2012, 2013 and 2014.
The 22-year oldplayer was the singles Champion in November in Taipei (125 000 USD), and she reached the final also in Marrakech (Morocco, 250 000 USD, clay). During this season Timi won against the later Champion of The US Open, Flavia Pennetta (Marrakech, 6:2, 5:7, 7:5) and against the New York finalist Roberta Vinci (Birmingham, 6:2, 6:7, 7:6). In Cincinnati the Hungarian youngster is surpassed Samantha Stosur (7: 6, 4:6, 7:5), who in 2011 won the US Open.
In doubles Timi and Kristina Mladenovic remained unbeaten in Dubai, Marrakech and Rome. In the capital of Italy they won against the World No1 pair, Martina Hingis and Sania Mirza. The Hungarian-French duo this year reached the semifinal in Wimbledon and played in the WTA Finals in Singapore.
Timi played in the Mixed Doubles final at Wimbledon with Alexander Peya.
The Hungarian player is currently ranked 70th in singles and 11th in doubles. During this season she improved the career and Hungarian record four times, her best was 8th (22 June 2015).
