“I’m very happy with My singles performance! I played very well! Konjuh is a very good and highly ranked player, but I could handle the match well. I also controlled the situation correctly when she began to play well in the second set, when she started to play tennis in all-matter basis. I’m glad that match in singles. I’m sorry for the doubles, of course. It was not easy situation for Dalma after her singles meeting. We wanted to win, We fought, as We could. Obviously this is a team competition, but from My own point of view I am happy because of the singles. Tomorrow, I will travel to Doha, so it’s time for the youngters in the 5th place match. I made My work, as I could” – said Timi.

In the opening match Donna Vekic (WTA-84) easily won in 57 minutes against Dalma Gálfi (WTA-154).

The second meeting was also one-sided, Timi (WTA-32) played very well against Ana Konjuh (WTA-37).

In the 24-minute first set the Hungarian player broke her opponent in the second game to 40, shocked her opponent. After 3:0, Timi won Konjuh’s serve to 15, then jumped to a 5:0lead. The Croatian player at last won her service game, but in the seventh game her opponent lost no rally.

The second set did not bring a lot more excitement, fortunately. Timi broke Konjuh to 40, then to 30. After 3:2, the Croatian youngster came back with two games, it seemed, it may be the turning point. Not this time!

Timi hold her service game for a 4:2 lead, then she broke her opponent to 0. In the last game, she lost one rally.

After a short break, came the doubles. Timi and Gálfi lost the opening set after a great battle, then they led 4:0. They lost three games in a row – twice behind the serves – but they woke up in time. They broke the opponent again, then finished the set behind the serves.
