Familiar opponents in Guangzhou

15/09/2013 – On Sunday the draws were made for the singles and doubles: Timi’s opponent in singles is the seventh seed Varvara Lepchenko.

The 20-year-old Hungarian will play in doubles with Olga Govortsova, the rival is Shuai Zhang and Yaroslava Shvedova.

 

Timi is currently ranked 107th, while her opponent, Varvara Lepchenko is now 44th. Her career best was 19th in 10.01.2012. She never reached the final in the WTA Tour.  The 27-year-old Uzbek-born but American since 2007 couldn’t celebrated excellent results this season: she won two matches only in Charleston, Madrid, Brussels, Stanford and at the Roland Garros.

 

Last year, at the Cincinnati Masters Timi won 7:6, 6:4 against Lepchenko in the first round.

 

In doubles the 20-year old Hungarian also meet familiar opponents.

 

The 24-year-old Chinese, Zhang Shuai is currently 56th in the doubles rankings, her career best was 29th, on 04.01.2013. During her career, she had five doubles WTA tournament finals: she won in 2011 in Osaka with Kimiko Date-Krumm, in 2012 in Estoril, wih Chuang Jia-Chung, and in Guangzhou with Tamarine Tanasugarn.

 

Zhang Shuai this year was a finalist in the 235 000 USD event in Kuala Lumpur (Co : Janette Husarova), she reached the last four in Charleston (795 707 USD, Co: Megan Moulton-Levy). At the Roland Garros with Zheng Jie went two rounds : in the first round they defeated Timi and Mandy Minella (6:7, 6:4, 6:3).

 

The Hungarian player in Tashkent played and triumphed with Yaroslava Shvedova, who is currently only 72nd, but her career best was No4, back in 07.06.2011. In 2010 the Kazakh star won in Wimbledon and US Open with Vania King! Shvedova also celebraed in 2009 in Pattaya City (Co: Tamarine Tanasugarn), in 2011 in Washington (Co: Sania Mirza), Cincinnati (Co: King), Moscow (Co: King) and in 2013 at Florianópolis (Co: Anabel Medina Garrigues).

 

Shvedova in 2013 was a finalist in Auckland (Co: Julia Goerges), and reached the last eight in Miami (Co: Goerges) and Charleston (Co : Goerges).
