Eastbourne: victory in doubles

26/06/2018 – The Hungarian-British pair won three sets.

The match lasted 1 hour and 20 minutes in Eastbourne.


Timi and her interim partner played well in the 27-minute first set. The Hungarian-British team won their serve to 40 in the opening game, then broke the opponent to 15. This advantage was retained, and after 3:1, Timi and Johanna Konta won their serve from 15-40.


Then in the seventh game, the Hungarian-British pair won the opponent’s serve to 15.


The second, 42-minute act was much closer. Kichenok and Kudryavtseva broke their rival to 40 in the sixth game, but lost the next also to 40. Unfortunately after 5:6 again the Ukrainian-Russian pair broke, this time to 15.


In the decisive tie-break, Timi and Konta received and served better. So after 9-5 it was not really important for the lost serve, because they won the next match point.


In the QF Timi and Johanna Konta will meet the fourth seeded Gabriela Dabrowski (Canadian, WTA-10.) és Xu Yifan (Chinese, WTA-17).
