Miraculous singles comeback

22/02/2016 – Timi won nine games in a row against Madison Brengle, after 3:6, 4:5.

“I am happy that I managed to win this match today! It was not easy. I did not play well in the beginning. I get a little panic on the circumstances, because the way the wind was blowing, because my opponent’s style … I prepared for this, but she surprised Me a little bit. I did not started well, but it has been proven again: if you fight and believe, then anything can happen! In the second set, at 5:5 I broke her after a long game, and it was the turning point”– Timi said.


In the 39-minute first set, Brengle pulled out a 4:0 lead…She broke her opponent in the opening game after 40-15, then saved a break point. In the next the games the American player didn’t lost a single rally.


At 5:2, Brengle had four set points behind the serves, but she lost that game. Then, Timi saved another three points, but finally her opponent finished the opening act, as a receiver.


The 58-minute second set brought an incredibly great battle! In the opening game Brengle saved a break point, then put a huge pressure on her opponent. The US-player won her next service games to 0, she led 5:4.


But Timi also fought bravely, she saved her service game from 15-40 in the second game. And after 4:5, she played very well.


The 22-year old Hungarian player equalized to 5:5, then she broke Brengle after a very long and very interesting game. Then, Timi hold her next service game to 30, so came the final act.


And the third set was really one-sided! Timi broke her opponent three times, first to 05, then twice to 30. And she served very well, she hardly lost a rally!


After 5:0, Timi won her service game to 30, she lived with the third match point.


Timi’s opponent in the second round will be Sara Errani.
The Italian player last week won the Dubai WTA-tournament, it was her 9th success in singles. So far, she triumphed also at 2 ITF event. Currently she is ranked 17th, her career best was 5 (20 May 2013). Four years ago, she was finalist at the Roland Garros and reached the last four at the US Open.


Timi has met three times in singles with Errani: she won in 2012 in Monterrey (6: 4, 6:7, 6:4). The Italian star triumphed in 2013 in Doha (6:4, 6:0) and in 2015 in Monterrey (6:3, 6:3).
