15/02/2018 – The Hungarian-French pair came back from a set down.

The match lasted 1 hour 33 minutes in Doha.


The Australian Open Champs started well the second joint tournament of the year this year, and in the opening set they broke the opponent after 2:1. But the Russians came back strongly, winning four games in a row, to a 5:3 lead.


Timi and Mladenovic leveled to 5:5, and soon came the tie-break. Kudermetova and Kudryavtseva served and received very well, confidently closed the opening act.


In the second set, Timi and Mladenovic broke the opponent to 30 in the fifth game, then saved their own game from 30-40. In the end, after 5: 4, the Hungarian-French pair won their service game to 15.


In the deciding tie-break, Timi and Mladenovic led 3-1, but at 7-7 all were open. Finally, the Hungarian-French duo led with a break to 9-7, and finally used the second match ball.


In the QF Timi and Kristina Mladenovic will meet Andreja Klepač and María José Martínez Sánchez.


Klepač (born: 13 March, 1986) is 25th in the world rankings, with a career best position of 23 (11 January 2016). So far she has won 5 WTA and 13 ITF competitions in this genre.


Martínez Sánchez (born: 12 August, 1982) is also 25th in the world rankings, with a career best position of 4 (5 July, 2010). She has so far won 18 WTA and 22 ITFs in doubles. In the 2009 season, the Spanish player won the WTA Finals with Nuria Llagostera Vives.
