Difficult start and nice victory in doubles

07/04/2015 – In the opening set Timi and Anna-Lena Groenefeld came back from 1:4, and they won in two sets against Irina-Camelia Begu and Arantxa Parra Santonja.

The match lasted 66 minutes.

Since the memorable Wimbledon Grand Slam tournament Timi started in doubles with Kristina Mladenovic, but now it was not an option. This week the French player started in Katowice, so her partner will play with Anna-Lena Groenefeld.


In the first half of the 37-minute opening set Begu and Parra Santonja started better, they won all the important points till 4:1. They broke their opponent at 2:1, from 40-30.


After 4:1 Timi and her partner took the control! They broke Parra Santonja to 30, then Begu from 40-15. At 5:4 they hold their serve after 30-40, so they saved two break points.


Fortunately the second set was much smoother! Timi and Groenefeld broke to 0, then saved their own service game from 30-40 (2:0). Then Begu and Parra Santonja couldn’t reached a break point, and the match was decided after 4:2.


Timi and Groenefeld broke the opponent to 30, then hold their service game to 30. They won the third match point.


In the quarter-final Timi and her partner will meet either the pair of Alison Riske, Shelby Rogers (USA) or Marina Erakovic, Andrea Petkovic (New Zealand, Germany).
