15/04/2014 – Timi lost a three-setter, very close match against Kristyna Pliskova in the first round of the 250 000 USD BMW Malaysian Open in Kuala Lumpur.
The meeting lasted two hours 42 minutes, and interrupted for almost four hours because of rain.

A 62-minute first set, the 20 -year-old Hungarian player gave herself huge chances, but unfortunately she was not able to completely break the opponent. At the beginning of the match, at 1:0 Timi won Pliskova’s service game, used the third opportunity and pulled away 3:0.
Then the Czech player saved another the break points, it has proven to be extremely important. Pliskova came back to the set, and at 5:3 she broke back. Until then she had no break point…The fate of the set decided by the tie-break.
Timi led 4-2, then after 4-4 she won two rallies. She had two set point, but her rival saved both of them, and finally won the dramatic first set.
At the beginning of the 42-minute second set Timi saved a break point, and as a receiver she had no chance for a long time. Fortunately, just at the right time , after 3:3 the situation has changed ! Pliskova’s performance made a little run-down unexpectedly, it has been decisive.
The 20-year old Hungarian player broke to 15, and after 5:3 she did it again.
At the beginning of the third set Timi confidently hold her serve, then the rain interrupted the match. After a nearly four -hour break Pliskova saved several break point, and then the Hungarian youngster also hold her service game, after three break point.
Then, Timi broke her rival to 0, and jumped to a 4:1 lead. But she couldn’t hold that advantage, she lost her serve at 4:2, then at 4:4…
In the last game the Hungarian player made several mistakes, Pliskova finished the match easily.
