Defeat in the Tianjin opening

11/10/2016 – From the second part of the second set, Riske was the better player on the court.

“Unfortunately, I never played a really good tennis in China … This year, in Wuhan I not played in a good mentality, then in Beijing it was better, but then I started to play very nervously. Here in Tianjin, it went very well for one and a half set,  but then I played again a nervy tennis. In this year’s season it was not the typical, but now many times I not playing to win, but my goal was to not to lose. I went too much for perfection, every lost rally was a disappointment for Me. But in tennis You should be prepared to lose nearly 50 per cent of the rallies. Now I go to Moscow! I would like to finish in a good mood My individual season before the WTA Finals in Singapore. I do not think about the result, but to close with a smile the successful 2016 season” – said Timi.


The match lasted 2 hours and 10 minutes.


In the first 37-minute opening set Timi lived with her chances, she served and received well. In the fifth game she saved a break point, then broke Riske to 40. After that, the Hungarian youngster won her service game to 30, then won her opponent’s serve to 30.


Unfortunately, the 45-minute second set brought a turn-around. Timi had a big chance to finish the match, but she couldn’t lived with her opportunities. In the fourth game, she had a total of 4 break points after 0-40, but without success.


Then Riske broke her opponent to 0. Timi managed to came back, but after 4:4 she lost her service game to 30. Then the US-player hold her serve, so she closed the second set…


At the beginning of the final set, Riske broke Timi to 40, then to 0. After 0:3, the Hungarian youngster broke back, she won the 9th (!) break point. Timi came back to 2:3, but after that, she had no chance for the success.


Riske served well and at 5:3, she broke to 15. So she reached the second round of the Tianjin Open.
