11/01/2015 – Polona Hercog won in three sets against Timi in the third qualifying round of the 731,000 USD Sydney WTA tournament.

The match lasted 2 hours, 3 minutes.

“I feel sorry for today’s match, I had a good chance! In the second set I had break points at 5:5, but I did not use them. Then I had a good service game, but the tie-break, however slipped out…The the match interrupted, We continued on another Court. This was not good for me, I started to think to much about the missed opportunity, so I couldn’t won. Overall, I’ satisfied with this week, I won against two good player and I had chanches against the third opponent. My game is developing. I will have doubles, I will continue the preparation, tobe in better shape for the Australian Open”– rated Timi after the match.

 

Because of the bad weather, the organizers delayed the start for hours in Sydney, the schedule has also been amended several times. Finally, late in the afternoon local time the game started.

 

In the beginning of the 36-minute first set Timi broke her opponent to 30 at 1:0, but she immediately lost her own service game from three game points after 40-15. Fortunately after 3:3 she was the better!

 

Timi broke to 15 at 4:3, then won the next game to 0.

 

The 59-minute second set brought a huge battle. In the opening game Hercog saved a break point, then won the opponent’s service game after 40-15…But Timi immediately broke back. At 5:5 the Hungarian youngster had three brek point, but without success.

 

The fate of the set later decided by the tie-break. Hercog led 4-0, but Timi fought back, she equalized to 4-4. But after that the Hungarian player again lost her service point, and it was decisive. Hercog won the set after 6-5.

 

After that the two player went to a new Court. In the opening game Timi lost her service game from 40-0, then Hercog easily jumped to a 4:0 lead. The 21-year old Hungarian player tried everything, but she had no chance. The Slovenian player won the last game to 0.
