Defeat in the quarter-final in Holland

15/06/2017 – The Hungarian-Czech double led with a set and break, but they could not lived with their chances.

The match lasted for 1 hour 42 minutes in s’Hertogenbosch.


Andrea Hlaváčková played with a foot injury on Thursday both in singles and doubles, but the Hungarian-Czech double was still very close to getting through to the semifinal.


In the first 32minute set the 1st seed pair broke the opponent (Flipkens) after 1:1 to40. lived with fourth break point. Timi and Hlaváčková retained this advantage till 4: 3 when their opponent won the Czech player’s serve to 30.


Fortunately, the Hungarian-Czech team reacted immediately, won Cibulková’s service game to 30. After that, Timi hold her serve to 15.


At the beginning of the 50-minute second set, the Hungarian-Czech double again broke the Slovakian-Belgian pair, this time after 2: 2. Unfortunately, the opening game’s script was only partially replicated. After 4: 3, Hlaváčková lost her serve to 30, but afterwards Cibulková and Flipkens were more accurate. After 6:5, the Slovakian-Belgian double broke the Czech player, again to 30.


The decisive tie-break brought a great battle. Timi and Hlaváčková led four times with a break, but they could not hold these opportunities. The Hungarian-Czech double saved three match-balls (9-8, 11-10, 12-11), while Timi and Hlaváčková also had a point for the semifinal (10-9). Then after 13-12, Cibulková and Flipkens closed the quarter-final with a receiver’s point.
