|Nicole Melichar, Elise Mertens (US, Belgian, 4)-Tímea Babos, Çağla Büyükakçay (Hungarian, Turkish) 6:3, 7:6 (7-1)|
The match lasted 1 hour 22 minutes in Istanbul.
Timi reached the semifinal in doubles for the third time this year at the WTA Tour: in Sydney she won with Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova (Russia), and in Budapest she could not played because of Lucia Safarova’s (Czech Republic) thigh injury.
The Hungarian-Turkish duo started well in the Istanbul semifinal, they broke the opponent to a 2:1 lead. But after that, Melichar and Mertens took control and they won four games in a row. And it was decisive. At 5:3, they hold their service game easily.
The 31-minute first set was followed by a much tighter second act. Timi and her companion fought hard, they must came back four times after a break down. They did, used the opportunities coming from the tiredness of Mertens. At they end, they also broke Melichar, who served pretty well for almost all the match.
But the tie-break was one-sided. The fourth seed pair was dominant, they lost one rally after 4-0. So they finished the match easily.
Next week Timi will play at the 250 000 USD tournament in Rabat (Morocco). She enter the singles event and the doubles tournament with her new partner, Andrea Hlavackova (Czech Republic).
