At the beginning of the 27-minute first set, after 1:1 the Croatian played saved her service game after a break point. This gave Lucic-Baroni a momentum, she broke Timi twice. First to 40, then to 30. And she won the seventh game, at 5:1 to 0…
The second set was much tighter. Timi led with a break twice, but she quickly lost that position. Lucic-Baroni came back, and after 4:4 she broke Timi again, this time to 15.And in the final game the 34-year old Croatian player hold her service game from 15-40. She deservedly reached the quarter-final.
Next time Timi will play at the second Grand Slam event of the season, at the Roland Garros.
