18/02/2014 – Timi not get past the first round of the 250,000 USD WTA tournament in Rio: she lost in three sets against Chanelle Scheepers.
The meeting lasted two hours 11 minutes. Timi and Jarmila Gajdosova will meet in doubles quarterfinal Irina-Camelia Begu and Maria Irigoyen.

In the 47-minute first set the World No 92 Hungarian youngster has performed well in all aspects. Timi served effective and well received. At 2:1 she won her opponent’s service game, then hold the lead.
In the eighth game Scheepers (78) saved six set points, but at the end she lost the service game and the set.
The second set brought a big change … unfortunately. Timi hold her first service game saving a break point, but then fall dramatically in this regard. The 29- year-old South African broke her rival four times (!) in a row. Thus, the 20-year-old Hungarian player won Scheepers service game twice, but she couldn’t saved the set…
At the beginning of the final set Scheepers led twice with a break advantage, pulled away 3:1…But Timi came back to 3:2 and had chance for leveling, but she lost her service game again. Unfortunately seventh time in a row …
Then Scheepers easily pulled away to 5:2, and after that she won the last game to 15.
On Wednesday Timi and Jarmila Gajdosova will meet in the doubles quarterfinal Irina-Camelia Begu and Maria Irigoyen. The Romanian player is ranked 84th, while her Argentian partner is 123rd.
