18/09/2013 – Timi started well, but ultimately did not get to the last eight in singles in the 500 000 USD Guangzhou Open.

The 20- year-old Hungarian players in the first round won against the 7th seed Varvara Lepchenko with a very good performance and on Wednesday she also started fine.


Timi broke to 30 at 1:0 and 3:0, then won her third service game and led 5:0. It seemed, the young Hungarian will win easily the set, but unfortunately, it did not happened…

The second set was also so exciting! Timi had not much time for mope, because after a short rest she has been featured in doubles with Olga Govortsova. At the other side of the net stood the two times Grand Slam-champion Yaroslava Shvedova , who last week won the doubles tournament with the Hungarian youngster in Tashkent. This time the Kazakh partner was the last season’s Guangzhou Open doubles champion – with amarine Tanasugarn -, the local hero Zhang Shuai.


In the 29-minute first set, Timi and Govorcova was a break down, but they quickly equalized, then took the control. The 4h seed pair broke twice the opponent after 3:3, and won the set.


At the beginning of the second set Timi and her partner broke quickly the rival, but the advantage quickly “vanished”. Fortunately, after 3:2 came the next break, and after 5:3 Timi and Govortsova won the last game to 0.


Timi and Govorcova opponent in the quarter-finals will be Taiwan’s Chan Hao-Ching (37th in doubles)–Chan Yung-Jan (190).
