“The draw was not easy … Because of the matches last week we decided to return to the more aggressive tennis. Obviously I knew it will be not an easy process, I will be not ready from one day to another. Here, in the first set it worked perfectly, and then less and less in the next two sets. But I can learn a lot from that match”– said Timi.
The match lasted one hour and 59 minutes.
In the 32-minute first set Timi played bravely and very well, hit a lot of winners. At that time, the Hungarian players tactics was good, she jumped to a 5:1 lead, with two breaks.
Then, the Spanish player came back to 5:3, she caught the rhythm of the match. But it was not enough for the opening act. Because Timi easily won the ninth game, she hold her service to 0.
At the beginning of the 41-minute second set the match was very balanced. Timi had a total of 4 break points after 1:1, but she couldn’t lived with these chances. And it was the turning point of the meeting.
Suarez Navarro broke her opponent twice after 2:2, she easily equalized in sets.
Unfortunately, the third set brought no surprise. The local player jumped to a 3:0 lead, she won three games to 40. Timi lost her service game after 40-15…
At 4:1, Suarez Navarro again broke the Hungarian player, but she couldn’t hold the next serve. Timi came back to 5:3, but she had no chance in the last game. Suarez Navarro won the last game to 15, so she advanced to the second round.
