14/04/2015 – Mariana Duque Marino won in three sets against Timi in front of the home crowd in the first round of the 250 000 USD WTA tournament in Bogota.

The 25-year-old Colombian player is ranked 134th, but she is a really clay court specialist. She has already won 1 WTA event and 10 ITF tournament in the slowest surface. She was the champion of Bogota in 2010.
The 7th seed Hungarian player started very badly in the 36-minute first set. Duque-Marino pulled away 4:1, she broke her opponent three times (the first time to 40, then twice to 30). In the sixth game Timi broke Duque-Marino for the secondf time, but after that she had no chance for equalizing. The local player won the 10th game to 15, after 5:4.
The 66-minute second set brought more battles and extreme thrills! Timi saved three break points till 3:3, but in the seventh game she lost her serve. Then she had two break point, but Duque-Marino jumped to a 5:3 lead. But it was not enough.
Timi broke back to 5:5, then the tie-break came few minutes later.
In the tie-break Duque-Marino led several times with a break, but her opponent came back every time. The 25-year Colombian player had three match points, but Timi fought back. And she won the set point at 11-10.
In the first game of the deciding set Timi had three break point after 0-40, but she couldn’t lived with them. And it was decisive…Duque-Marino broke her opponent at 4:3, and she won the next game to 40.Timi saved another two match point, but the local hero won the sixth chance, to close the match.
