INTERNATIONAUX DE STRASBOURG (250 000 USD, CLAY), SINGLES, ROUND 1
Tímea Babos (Hungarian, 6)-Fiona Ferro (French) 6:4, 6:0

The match lasted 1 hour and 6 minutes.

The 6th seeded Hungarian player, with the exception of the short section of the first set, confidently surpassed her wild-cardist local opponent.

In the 37-minute opening act, Timi broke Ferro to 30 after 2:1, then hold her own game (4:1). Ferro led 40-15 as a receiver in the seventh game, and lived with her second chance. The local player equalized to 4:4, then led 40-15 after 4:5. Timi did not let the game, first she leveled, then soon later finished the set.

The second act was much simpler. The Hungarian player broke to 40, then to 30, and did not lose a rally behind the serves (4:0). Timi hold the fifth game from two break points, then lost only two rallies after 5:0.

The Hungarian player’s next opponent is Zarina Diyas.

The Kazakh player (born: 18 October, 1993) is 53rd in the world ranking, with a career best position of 31st (12 January, 2015). Up to now, she has won 1 WTA Tour and 7 ITF tournaments, Diyas was quarter-finalist in January in Shenzhen (China, 750 000 USD, hard court), then reached the last16 in Miami (USA, 8 648 350 USD, hard court) and in Stuttgart (Germany, 816 000 USD, clay/indoor).
