02/10/2016 – Timi served and received very well, she lost only three games.

“I am pleased that once again I played compact tennis! So at the end of the year, the players are already tired. But You must put everything to the court, You can only win by that way. The next match will be difficult, as I step on the court against a player, who is in good form. But I also try to give my best”– said Timi.


The match lasted 1 hour 2 minutes.


The 23-year old Hungarian player served and received very well, not given a chance for the World No63 opponent.


In the 23-minute first set Timi broke Kovinic for 30 and 15, she jumped to a 5:0 lead. After 5:1, she hold her serve again, she lost only two points in four games.


The second act has been closely developed, a bit. Fortunately, Timi still does not really given a chance to Kovinic, she played much beter in the most important rallies.


In the opening game, the Hungarian youngster won her opponent’s service game to 0, then came the longest game of the match. Kovinic had a total of three break points, but without success. Timi hold her service, then broke the Montenegrin player again.


Timi won her serve to 0 after 3:0, then to 30 after 4:1. And in the last game of the match she lost only one point, so she advanced to the second round of the China Open.


Timi’s next opponent will be the 11th seed, Johanna Konta.


The 25-year old British player is ranked 13th, this is her career best position. So far, she has won 1 WTA  and 11 ITF tournament in singles. This year Konta was a semifinalist at the Australian Open, while reached the last eight at the Rio Olympics. She was a Champion at Stanford, in the final she won in three sets against Venus Williams.


Among the adults, Timi met Konta twice. At the 2012 US Open the UK-player with Hungarian origin won 6:2, 7:5, then at the 2014 Fed Cup, Timi triumhed 4:6, 7:6, 6:4.
