Cincinnati: good start in doubles

13/08/2014 – Timi and Kristina Mladenovic won in two sets against Julia Goerges and Anna-Lena Groenefeld in the first round of doubles in Cincinnati.

The match lasted 58 minutes. The Hungarian-French pair will meet Klaudia Jans-Ignacik and Karolina Pliskova in the next round.

The Wimbledon finalist Hungarian-French duo is seeded 6th in Cincinnati, but the met a strong double in the opening round, the German players reached the last eight in the grass court Grand Slam torunament. Goerges is ranked 32nd, while Groenefeld is 23rd in the latest doubles ranking.


However, Timi and Mladenovic, except for a few minute period, dominated the match! The Hungarian-French pair served and received very well, given no chance to their opponent.


In the 28-minute first set the Wimbledon finalists broke the rival early, but they lost the 2:0 lead. Fortunately, in the sixth game Timi and Mladenovic won again the opponent’s service game and they done it again at 5:2.


At the beginning of the second set the Hungarian-French double again broke Gorges and Groenefeld and this time they hold the break advantage. The Germans hold the next two service games, but they had no chance as a receiver.


Timi and Mladenovic will meet Klaudia Jans-Ignacik and Karolina Pliskova in the next round.
